Term 6 - Rocks, Relics and Rumbles
What happens beneath our feet?
In the Rocks, Relics and Rumbles project, your child will learn about the different layers of the Earth, including plate tectonics and their potential effects on the Earth's surface. They will investigate different types of rock to learn about their uses and properties. They will also investigate soil and fossils, including learning about the work of Mary Anning. They will have the opportunity to use maps to learn about the lines of latitude and longitude and a compass to learn about the cardinal and intercardinal points. They will also learn about volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis and the long and short-term consequences that these can have.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed and long hair tied up.
Term 6 - Tuesday's we will be going swimming for 6 weeks. Please ensure that your child has a swim suit and towel in a plastic bag.
Home Reading
Please ensure that you listen to your child read 5 times a week. We will be monitoring this in class and changing reading books every Friday. If you finish reading your book before, then please re-read it for fluency. We will be sending home 2 reading books: 1 based on their reading level and 1 book of their choice.
Times Table Rock Stars
Children from Year 3 upwards will receive a username and passwords for Timetable Rock stars. This allows them to practise and prepare for the multiplication check at the end of Year 4.

Ukuleles
Giraffe class will be learning to play the ukuleles as a class on Friday mornings. Everything is provided for them to use in school.
