Monday 1 June 2026 Where will our butterflies go now? We were very excited that our butterflies had hatched. We even watched one emerge from its chrysilis. We watched them in the net for a couple of days as they developed their strength and then we finally sat and waited patiently for them to leave us.

Wednesday 20 May 2026 Our farmer visitor We had a real farmer who came and visited the classroom to talk about what they grow in their farm and how. The children got to look at some wheat, seeds and equipment they use.

Wednesday 20 May 2026 Mary Procession As it was the month of Mary the children processed along the school grounds and laid flowers by our Mary statue.

Friday 15 May 2026 Stay and Play Term 5 The parents were invited to Stay and Play. The children performed two songs off to their families and also got to show off what they had been learning in phonics!

Wednesday 13 May 2026 What do seeds need to grow? We investigated what seeds need to grow. The children knew that seeds needs, water and sunlight as well as soil. We tested this by placing one seed with all 3 things, one without and one with just water. We will wait and see what happens!

Thursday 7 May 2026 Where can we find signs of butterfly lifecycles outside? Having learnt about the lifecycle of a butterfly on class watching our caterpillars change into chrysalids we went outside to observe and explore for signs outside. We found lots of leaves that had been munched on and some eggs. Ava also spotted a caterpillar on a leaf!

Tuesday 5 May 2026 What has happened to our caterpillars? Our caterpillars have grown and are now chrysalids. We will now wait to see what happens next.

Wednesday 29 April 2026 How did the disciples feel when Jesus went up to Heaven? We listened to the story of Ascension when Jesus went back up to Heaven. We role played how the disciples would have felt as they watched him 'float up' as Bobby said. 'He is going to see his father' said Jacob.

Monday 27 April 2026 Can you help Farmer duck with his farm? Our drawing club story this week is Farmer duck so we set up a tuff tray with farm animals, grass, water and mud. This encouraged lots of oracy and the children were able to talk about what the animals need as well as retelling and using story language.

Monday 27 April 2026 Outdoor learning - mark making To develop pencil control I set up an activity using cut up cotton buds which the children used to copy over patterns with water.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 What is the life cycle of a butterfly? The children were very excited with our new additions to the class. They were curious to explore what the caterpillars looked like. It created lots of discussion and predictions about what would happen next. Lots of the children knew about them turning into a 'cacoon' or chrysalis'. We also discussed what an exoskeleton was and how the caterpillars bones were on the outside. The children found this very interesting.

Tuesday 21 April 2026 Outdoor learning - Our carwash To help develop their fine motor skills we set up a car wash with bubbly water and brushes and the children set to work cleaning them up. It even spurred them on to wash the big bikes too!

Tuesday 21 April 2026 Where is The Naughty Bus hiding? The Naughty bus had left a note to say that it had got lost and was hiding. The children had to find the Naughty bus who was hiding in the classroom. It created lots of discussion as to how it might have got here.

Monday 20 April 2026 Outdoor learning - Our Carpark The children were really keen and excited to play with the vehicles outside that they created their own carapark.

Monday 20 April 2026 The Naughty Bus The children enjoyed the story of The Naughty Bus during drawing club so much that they played buses once it was explore and learn time. Roman started the game and then others followed. They started to ask for a ticket and got on the bus for an adventure!

Wednesday 1 April 2026 Holy Week During Explore and learn time Oakley made the cross using the big blocks.

Wednesday 1 April 2026 The Easter Story The children had been so interested in the Easter story that they reinacted it during Explore and Learn time.

Friday 27 March 2026 Stay and Play Families and carers were invited to come and Stay and Play with their children for the afternoon as well as sharing some of their learning.

Monday 23 March 2026 Easter egg hunt Maths enhancement The children enjoyed applying their maths skills with our Easter egg hunt game. I set it up by hiding the parts around our outside area and the children went off and identified matching the numeral to the amount.
