Science - Animals including Humans

Members of Penguin class, recently took part in a fascinating and hands-on science lesson, exploring the structure and function of the heart through the dissection of a pig’s heart.

This engaging activity provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of how the heart works. Under careful guidance, the children examined the different parts of the heart, including the chambers, valves and major blood vessels. Seeing these structures up close helped to bring their classroom learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

Many pupils commented on how exciting it was to handle a real heart and how it helped them to visualise concepts that can often be difficult to grasp through diagrams alone.

The activity encouraged active learning and allowed all learners to engage in a way that suited them, whether through observation, discussion or hands-on exploration.
