Penguin - Year 5 and 6
Welcome to Penguin Class!
Term 4 - Fallen Fields
What was the true cost of war?
In this project, the children will start by listening to an audio recording of a soldier leaving for war. Using inspiring illustrations and their research skills will help them find out which countries were the Central Powers, which were the Allied Powers and which were neutral. They will order significant events and decide who were the most influential figures of the First World War. They will read wartime poetry and examine artwork to pick out evocative imagery and thought-provoking themes. They will also analyse wartime propaganda and reflect on the significance of poppies.
Our PE days are: Monday and Thursday.
Please come to school dressed in your PE kit on these days with earrings removed and hair tied back.
