Safeguarding

At St. Joseph's we have a culture of safety where safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils is fundamental to all we do. Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility and all adults at St. Joseph's are committed to helping the whole school community feel safe and happy.

Safeguarding Team

At St. Joseph's we have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL's) who are responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters.

Lead DSL: Mrs Hunt

Deputy DSL: Mrs Seager-Fleming, Mrs Hughes, Mrs Handford, Mrs Lloyd-Yates

Governor responsible for safeguarding: Dr Digman

If you have any concerns about your safety or the safety of a child, please contact one of the members of our DSL team.

How we record safeguarding concerns.

As a school we record all safeguarding concerns using an electronic system know as CPOMS (Child Protection and Safeguarding Management System). This enables our school to maintain accurate records and share them securely with those responsible for safeguarding in our school.

Attendance

Good attendance at school is vital for ensuring children make good academic progress and promotes good social development. To ensure good attendance for all children, there are procedures in place and this is part of the school's wider safeguarding duties.

Operation Encompass

St. Joseph's is part of Operation Encompass, a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership. This means that the school receives notifications if a pupil has been involved in, witnessed or been exposed to a domestic abuse incident. This enables us to provide the best possible support to the child and family.
